Original Lucas SFT576 Fog Lamp Pair, EXCELLENT Condition

  
These beautiful lamps are the famous 5.76-inch Lucas SFT576 fog lamps, sometimes known as Pathfinders. They are the lamps that won the Monte Carlo rally when used on Minis, provided elegant illumination on Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds and Jaguar XK 140 and 150, Mark I, Mark VIIM, VIII and IX, and dressed up the front of Austin-Healeys, Triumph TR2-3-4-5-250, MGA, MGB, Magnette, MG TD and TF, and so many other British cars. They are very, very nice, originals.

One is so nice, it may actually be NOS, very slightly shop-soiled. The other is used but very lightly and it's excellent. The chrome on both is simply superb, no blemishes and with a very deep shine from the wonderful Rhodesian chrome Lucas used fifty or sixty years ago.

The lenses and reflectors are in perfect condition, and all the hardware is also free of any blemishes. Quite simply put, you will not find a nicer pair unless they are NOS (we have several pairs of NOS 576 lamps in stock, in case you want absolute perfection). We consider that one of these lamps is in 9/10 condition while the other is 9.5/10. In case you can't tell, why, we love them too. They are NOT TO BE COMPARED with any new Lucas 576 lamps manufactured today.

The bodies are chrome-plated brass, whereas all new Lucas fog and driving lamps have steel bodies. The lenses have all the correct Lucas lettering, while new ones do not, and the bodies are properly stamped LUCAS SLR576 MADE IN ENGLAND, but again, new lamps do not have these features.

There are other differences, but we don't want to go on and on. These are original, and correct. We also have a great many reproduction and used Lucas 700 and 576 lamps, originals as well as NOS units, priced in accordance with their condition and rarity.

Lucas manufactured the 576 lamp from about 1952 through the 1980s, and numerous minor changes were made to the lamps during that time, including minor changes to the font of printing used on the glass, "LUCAS" on some lenses but not all, and either "MADE IN ENGLAND" or "FOREIGN GLASS" on the lenses. The chrome bodies carried a date stamp until about 1965, after which time this was deleted.
