This is a Griswold No 5 cast iron skillet from the 1930 and it is in excellent restored condition. The cooking surface has hints of light utensil scores and a few small patches of very fine etching from corrosion.
These are undetectable as you glide your fingers over a near glass smooth surface. Two sheet of printer paper stops movement on a granite surface.
No chips, cracks or repairs and does not spin. Test for flatness of item. With the item resting on a polished granite surface, press down all along the top rim of the item searching for movement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under one edge of the until item stops moving. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments.
This process ensures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hours. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color.Items are much darker under normal light.
