Yoruba Shango Dance Wand. African Tribal Carved Wood. Excellent Condition

  

This gracefully carved and polychromed Yoruba Shango dance wand portrays a kneeling woman holding here child on her back. It is nicely detailed with ritual scoring on the cheeks of both mother and child. Their hair is nicely braided into neat rows. The carving has a nice age patina. It is approximately 28.5 (72.39 cm) high.

This beautiful carving will make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection of African, Yoruba or Ethnographic art. It is insect free with some earlier damage to its base.
